A home for EVERY student!
Everyone should be able to be who they are and to love who they want.
Students from all over the world live with us, many come to Stockholm because they feel that it is easier to live the life they want here. We at Stockholms studentbostäder want to pay tribute to Pride and its work for increased diversity and a freer life for LGBTQ+ people.
– We support the Pride movement and its work to improve living conditions. We want all students to feel welcome and included in our residential areas. For us, it is important that our students thrive and have a good time, and of course it has a big positive impact on well-being and mental health that you feel accepted, says Mattias Carrass, CEO of Stockholms studentbostäder.
Around 40 percent of our tenants are international students. For some of them, it may be easier to study in Stockholm because there is a greater acceptance of homosexuals, bisexuals, transgender people, queer people and others within the LGBTQ+ movement than in some other parts of the world.
– We know that we have exchange students who come to Stockholm and live with us because there is an opportunity to be exactly who they are here. That we can offer a home to students from all over the world and thereby contribute to young people being able to decide their own lives and make the life choices they want is something we are very proud of, says Mattias Carrass.
We not only offer housing, but also work actively for increased social sustainability. We want the campus areas to be places where the tenants can enjoy themselves, develop and strengthen their relationships with other students. We arrange, among other things, social activities such as concerts, art competitions and padel tournaments on campus.
– It is part of our mission to offer opportunities for social exchange between students and our ambition is to create living campus areas and environments that promote community regardless of who you are, where you come from and how you choose to live your life. With various arrangements that promote social gatherings, we hope to contribute to increased inclusion and a greater tolerance and acceptance of diversity, not least for LGBTQ+ people, says Mattias Carrass.
Stockholm Pride is organized from July 31 to August 5, 2023.
