Frequently asked questions and answers

Student Union membership

I have paid my Student Union membership for the upcoming semester but it has not been updated on My pages. Why?

The system will search for your Student Union membership only after your current membership has expired. For example, your current Student Union membership expires on September 30, our system will search for your new membership on October 1. Keep yourself updated on My pages.

If your membership is not updated on My pages, please contact your Student Union.

Check that you have registered the same e-mail address and Swedish personal identity number with your Student Union as you have registered on My pages, as they must be identical. Your Student Union registers you in SSCO’s membership register, which we check every night.

I am a member of the Student Union but my place in the queue has been put on hold. What do I do?

  • Make sure the e-mail address you registered with your Student Union is identical to the e-mail address that you entered on My pages. This is especially important if you are a student from another country than Sweden.
  • If the problem still remains, please contact your Student Union and verify that you are indeed a registered Student Union member.
  • Also check that your Student Union has registered you in SSCO’s register. Your Student Union registers you in SSCO’s membership register, which we check every night.

How do you check that I am a Student Union member?

Your data at Stockholms studentbostäder is automatically checked regularly in SSCO’s register and the Student Union. By our nightly checkups we receive information if you are a Student Union member or not.

Can I join a Student Union, even though I do not study at a college?

No, you need to be enrolled at a university in Stockholm with a Student Union affiliated with SSCO. You can find information about which Student Unions they are here.
.

My place in the queue

How do I park my place in the queue?

If your Student Union membership has never been registered on My pages you need to log in to see which date you need to park your place in the queue. You will find this information in the blue box. After 60 days in our housing queue, a Park button is created. You need to park your queue within 30 days so as not to lose your credit days. Day 91 your credit days will be deleted.

If your Student Union membership has been registered on My pages, it will automatically be put on hold when your membership expires.

Once you have parked your place in the queue, it will not be reactivated until your Student Union membership is registered on My pages.

How long can my place in the queue be on hold?

It can be on hold for a total of 36 months combined. After that time your credit days will be deleted and you will lose your place in the queue.

What does it cost to be in your queue?

It is free to be registered in our queue, but in order to collect credit days you need to be a member of a Student Union affiliated with SSCO. You can find all Student Unions here.

What does it mean that my place in the queue is put on hold?

This means that you currently cannot collect more credit days, but you will keep the credit days you have collected so far. As soon as your Student Union membership is registered on My pages, your place in the queue will be reactivated and you will continue to collect credit days.

Do I have to reactivate my place in the queue after I have signed a tenancy agreement for an accommodation?

Yes, log in to My pages and register your place in our queue.

.

My account

I have forgotten my password. How do I get a new one?

You can request a new password here. Follow the instructions to get a new password.

I have received a Swedish personal identity number and need to update my account. What do I do?

Send a copy of your Birth certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, Skatteverket (not be older than three months) or a valid Swedish ID document. Our Customer Service will help you update your username from your temporary P-number to your Swedish personal identity number. Once you have received confirmation, you can start using your Swedish personal identity number as your username.

I have two accounts in my name. What do I do so that I only have one?

You are only allowed to have one account with us. If you have more than one, you risk being blocked from our housing queue. Contact our Customer Service and we will help you so that you only have one account registered in your name.

.

Book accommodation

Do I have a greater chance of getting a home if I am first to apply for an accommodation?

No, we send the offer of accommodation to My pages to the applicant with the highest amount of credit days.

Can I prioritize my bookings of accommodations?

No, that is not possible. If you have the highest amount of credit days on more than one accommodation, the system will randomly send you an offer of accommodation on only one of them.

How many times can I decline an offer of accommodation?

You can decline once, the second time you decline an offer, you will lose your credit days.

Where do I see if I receive an offer of accommodation?

We send the offer of accommodation to your My pages. There you will also see the last time and date for signing the tenancy agreement. It is your responsibilty to check My pages to see if you have received an offer. We will also send out a sms to your registered mobile number.

Why don't you publish any student rooms during the summer?

We do not publish any student rooms with move in date in June and July, since they are rent free months. Then we can take the opportunity to make a thorough review of these rooms during these two months.

.

Rental agreement

When can I pick up my keys?

You can pick up your keys to your accommodation from 2:00 p.m. the day your contract starts (1st or 16th each month). If it occurs during a weekend or public holiday, you can pick them up the following weekday. If you cannot pick up your keys on this day, you can pick them up during your House Caretaker’s regular opening hours.

Can I move in earlier than the date shown on my agreement?

No, that is not possible. You can move in at the earliest on the date your agreement becomes valid. If that date is during a weekend or holiday, you move in on the following weekday.

How do I register for e-Invoice?

Contact your bank and they will help you register for e-Invoice. Please note that you must always log in to your online bank and approve your payment.

What does 10 months' rent mean?

A student room has 10 months’ rent, which means that the annual rent is divided into ten months instead of 12 months. June and July are rent-free. You may of course still live in your home during these two months.
If you move in on 1 May, the earliest you can move out is the last day of August.

What do I do if I want to report a fault?

You register your fault via Fault reporting/Pests on My pages.

How many months' notice do I need to give before moving out?

As a tenant you have two months notice. You can give notice to either the 15th or the last day of each month. You terminate your tenancy agreement on My pages.

Can I transfer my tenancy to another student?

No, you cannot transfer your tenance agreement but you can apply to change roles on the agreement if you live in a apartment with a co-tenant. You will find more information about rules for changing roles under My contract on My pages.

.

Applications

I will study abroad for a semester, can I sublet my home?

You can apply to sublet your home if you meet the criteria. You can see information regarding subletting on My pages. Application form can be found here.

How much rent can I ask for from my subtenant?

If you sublet your home unfurnished, you may not take extra money in addition to the rent you pay us. If you sublet your home furnished, it’s okay to add a sum for your subtenant for use of your furniture but a maximum of 15%.

You can also read about subletting at Hyresgästföreningen. With them, you can also find rental agreements that you can sign with your subtenant.
