Together with our tenants, we create a sustainable future
The environmental issue is important to us at Stockholms studentbostäder and now we are expanding our focus to sustainability. We continue to work, for example, to reduce energy use in our buildings and to improve waste management, while at the same time raising the area further by including social and economic aspects. With our sustainability policy and the employment of a sustainability and quality strategist, we now have greater opportunities to contribute to a more sustainable world together with our tenants.
We think globally through the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
Stockholm student housing wants to be part of, and contribute to sustainable development globally. That is why we have chosen to use the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals as a guiding principle in our work. To contribute in the best possible way, we focus on the following goals that fit our business:
- Goal 3 – Good health and well-being
- Goal 6 – Clean water and sanitation
- Goal 7 – Affordable and clean energy
- Goal 8 – Decent work and economic growth
- Goal 11 – Sustainable cities and communities
- Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and production
- Goal 16 – Peace, justice and strong institutions
We make a difference
Since we offer more than 8,000 student housing units, every effort makes a difference. For example, we only have electricity from renewable energy sources, so-called green electricity, in our buildings. As a result, our carbon dioxide emissions decreased by 76%!
Sustainability work in an exciting development
Our sustainability work is currently in an exciting development phase. In the spring of 2019 we had a housing dialogue on the theme of sustainability, where we invited tenants to contribute. We received lots of good ideas and suggestions, and they are now the basis for updating our sustainability strategy. In connection with this work we will also update here on the web, so check in from time to time!
